Description of the axial fan KD302

The axial fan of the KD302 design is a 2-pole three-phase fan with a voltage of 400 volts, 50Hz. The high speed of 2800 rpm results in high performance in volume flow and pressure with a compact design. Since the impeller diameter is 300mm, the nominal size is 300mm.

The use of the fan can be defined for different areas. These would be as an example among other things the cooling of containers, the use with generators, machines, cooling of castings or forged parts. The axial fan is preferred for use in office walls, machine hall walls, or walls in sandwich construction, for example for machine cooling in containers.

Voltage and control of the axial fan KD302

As standard, thermal contacts in the form of bimetal switches are installed in the winding of the fan, to protect the motor.

Axial fan KD302 is manufactured in voltage 400V, 50Hz as standard. Other voltage frequency ranges such as from 480Volt, 60Hz for the USA and 575Volt, 60Hz for Canada are available. Special voltages of 500Volt, 50Hz can be manufactured on short notice.

The KD302 fan can also be manufactured from various grades of stainless steel.

Stainless steel variants of the axial fan KD302

For the beverage and food industry (food industry) we use the stainless steel grade in V2A (material number 1.4301 or AISI 304 or X5CrNi189). We cast the motors from high quality cast aluminum. Either the motor for food industry can be left raw or additionally painted with food color. It is also possible to cast the motor from aluminum material approved for the food industry, in case of annually recurring purchase quantities.

In the area of salty ambient air, as it is the case in the coastal area or on drilling platforms, the so-called offshore area, the stainless steel grade V4A (material number 1.4571 or AISI 316 or X10CrNiMoTil810) is used. Doe motors can be additionally painted with salt water resistant paint.

Material of the axial fan KD302

Axial impellers are made of glass fiber reinforced plastic as standard. Aluminum impellers can be used in case of high temperature application.

The plate fan is the version with rectangular frame. This version is available from a small minimum order quantity.

We deliver in IP44 protection class as standard. Other types of protection, such as protection IP54 and protection IP56, are available on request.

In the technical documentation and under the menu item Service the different installation positions and corresponding air directions are indicated. These should be communicated at the time of ordering, but can be adjusted afterwards.

Technical illustration of the axial fan KD302

If the fan is required for both air directions in the application (reversible air application), this can be achieved by switching the direction of rotation. The air performance is reduced by about 15% in the reversed direction because the impeller blades are profiled for optimum efficiency.
The company Kaiser Ventilatorenbau has designed and developed the motors and specially made them for the axial fans. According to DIN EN 60085 the thermal protection class is F or on request H.
Through various tests in climatic chambers and humidity chambers, the storage temperature and the temperatures possible for operation have been tested in type tests.
For the operation of the stainless steel fans, salt water tests for the offshore area and an IPx6 humidity test are available, which prove the usability.
The fan is CE marked according to the Ecodesign Directive ERP2015 (ErP Directive 2009/125/EC EU Regulation No. 327/2011) and the Machinery Directive.
By using transformer controller and frequency converter, the fan is 100% controllable in the entire speed and power range.
The control and the use of frequency converters can be implemented in compliance with DIN-IEC/TS 60034-17. The Din states that, depending on the frequency converter, an all-pole sinusoidal filter must be connected between the motor and the fan.
Weather protection dampers and air outlet protection grilles can be supplied as add-on parts, for example to comply with the Machinery Directive.
Ready-made CAD data in STEP format is available for the design. This means that the fan can be integrated early in the design process of a plant. This saves time and costs by avoiding design changes.
